Hi, I'm John. Thank you for being here. My passion is to walk with others on their spiritual journey and to help them deepen their connection with God; to listen to their unique sacred story, as together we discover the deepening soul path. I am an ordained episcopal priest with forty years of experience helping people live into wholeness and a deeper sense of their truest selves. Drawing on my experience as a counselor for substance abuse treatment, a licensed professional counselor for ten years, and twenty-eight years in pastoral ministry; I live out my passion for helping people in offering spiritual direction either in person or online. I have my certification in Spiritual Direction from Metagem Institute, and am a member of Spiritual Directors International. Have had several trainings with Shalem Institute My focus in spiritual direction is helping you find your unique spiritual path and ways of connecting with God.

I grew up on the coast of South Carolina, and

now live in Morehead City, North Carolina in a

beautiful area known as the Crystal Coast.

Salt water and coastal livings in my blood.

There is something about being close to the

ocean and coastal waterways that helps me

connect with God.

 

I am married to my wife, Mary. We enjoy our

time outdoors. We both enjoy music ... playing it and listening to it.

I play guitar, harmonica and bagpipes; and Mary plays piano and many other instruments. We enjoy traveling together. When traveling we like to leave the tourist sites and get lost on back roads and small communities where local culture is enjoyed at a slower pace. We also enjoy anything outdoors particularly biking, walking, working in our yard, or enjoying the birds and other wildlife. I can really feel God's presence in nature. ​​​

I know what it's like to take that step to reach out to someone. Spiritual direction can help you find a deeper grounding to your faith in God. Our spirituality is not about keeping rules. It's not about a judging, condemning God. Our spirituality is a journey of becoming more fully who God has created us to be, and loves us just as we are. I'm grateful that you are here.
